The Relevance of Voluntary Efforts and Fairness Preferences for the Success of International Climate Policy: A Theoretical and Empirical Analysis at the Individual Level

How does the interaction between the population and participants of international climate negotiations influence the success of these negotiations? What role do fairness norms play in this context? And what influence do individual voluntary climate protection activities have?

The research project "VolFair" investigates these questions in the framework of the research programme "Economics of Climate Change" of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The research programme aims at politically relevant projects which deal with the handling of climate change. In this context, the project "VolFair" aims at extending and deepening the understanding of successful climate negotiations.
